| Note | Large shell for this now uncommon intertidal California rock shell species from the crash zone. Nicely curved short thick varices on the body whorl, intact protoconch, spire, aperture lips and siphonal canal. Classic axial pin striping painted on the light brown/orange primary body whorl hue. Collected at the Back Bay, Newport Beach, California in the 50's. Acquired from old collection . Rough and tough archaic appearing shell displaying some wear of the protoconch, spire and body whorl tubercles, typical of the species. Grade: F+++/GEM minus. |
