Note | Unique pepper spotting pattern on an eggshell-white body whorl hue highlighted with light pink/ochre blotching characterize this narrowly ovate specimen. Light and easy appearance. This solid specimen is highlighted by pronounced shoulder knobs (tubercles) on the spire, strong columella plates and a natural beveled lip. A beautiful balance of subtle color and morphology. The peristica was trawled live at 120-150 meters on muddy bottom off Cooktown, northern Queensland, Australia in the 90's. The shell demonstrates a mini-chip on the siphonal notch, palpable roughness on the anterior lip and a short pigmented growth disruption on the ventral body whorl (arrow). Grade: F+++. |
