Family | Muricidae |
Name | Neorapana muricata - RARE ORANGE COLOR FORM!! |
Size | 73.7 mm, w/o |
Locality | Barra de Navidad, Jalisco,Mexico |
Note | Giant size for the species and population with incredible 73.7mm with awesome thick scales and thick lip, high nodules with scales and clear ribs. Really nice conditions compare with the everage for this seldom seen species. This particular species is always found attached to large stones and apparently feeds more at night. Devourer of marine worms! Their shells are generally always accompanied and attached by many types of calcareous organisms and algae making them invisible in many cases. You need to have a very good eye to find them, and they are rare. Very rarely do you find good specimens with impressive conditions. This is the perfect example to appreciate the beauty of a real Neorapana muricata with beautiful scales and ribs. Uncommon species nowadays in great quality like this. Some pin holes around the spire not really detracting the beauty. F++-F+++. Found attached between stones with mud about 5m deep. Barra de Navidad, Jalisco, Mexico. January 2024. Value: 140-160 euros. MEXICO PACIFIC. |
