NoteCollected from Geographe Bay in Western Australia in 32 metres of water half buried in sand. This specimen's dorsal valve exhibits a stunning display with a bird wing pattern superimposed on radial white and burgundy rays. I like to think of it as a flock of birds flying into a sunset. The priessiana form is distinguished from type fumatus that occurs in Eastern Australia by a fine radial grove that runs down the centre of the large ribs on the basal valve.
