This is nothing less than an amazing work and it is the only work that has recently been done on the varied and unusual endemic species of land and freshwater mollusks that are endemic to the Hawaiian Islands. In all there are 3117 images of these in this book. The shell descriptions that are keyed to the plates are succinct but more than adequate.
749 described species, 345 described subspecies of those species and one endemic family. Of those 14 families, two currently stand out as being extraordinarily successful, the Amastridae with 293 species and the Achatinellidae with 231 species.
