Pecten fumatus preissiana - Lisa Simpson Face !!! , Reeve, 1852
Size
71.4 mm
Locality
Geographe Bay, WA
Note
Collected from Geographe Bay in Western Australia from 32 metres of water and half buried in sand. This little cutie has a fading burgundy lateral valve with a yellow edge. The priessiana form is distinguished from type fumatus that occurs in Eastern Australia by a fine radial grove that runs down the centre of the large ribs on the basal valve. With a bit of imagination a Lisa Simpson face can be seen on the dorsal valve.
