| Note | Visually brilliant palmarosae with intact apex, knobby erect foliaceous structures, spire and siphonal canal. Wonderful tones of light brown and sienna complemented by intricate pin-stripping on the body whorl. The desirable characteristics of this specimen include elaborate striking spines branching into exceptional curlycue fronds fringed in subtle shades of violet and white. Siphonal canal intact, with perfect aperture lip and pink apex. Collected off Trincomalee, Sri Lanka in sand and grass bottom by net at 20-25 meters 10/23. Heavy shell. The specimen shows some attrition of the foliaceous processes on the columellar side facing the aperture. Perfect apex, spire, aperture and siphonal canal. Grade: GEM minus. |
