Item | # 0003325861 | Family | Cypraeidae | Name | Chelycypraea testudinaria - RARE LOCATION , Linneaus 1758 |
Size | 130.1 mm |
Locality | Townsville, QLD, Australia |
Note | Absolute beauty for a common and larger cowry species. The shell is profoundly Inflated, shows cylindrical form and a narrow aperture with an array fine tiny white specks. Heavy like a rock, with the thickest, shiniest/thick nacre imaginable on a testudinaria. Typically, this species shows some nacre luster, but this specimen outdoes them all. Taken by a Scuba diver on Myrmidon Reef, Townsville, Queensland, Australia at 6-8 meters under a dead coral slab. The specimen displays one mini and shallow wobble mid-dorsum. Grade: GEM minus. |
