| Note | A GIGANTIC SPHAERULA - A PRESTIGIOUS SHELL. And as such, the largest of many. If you're talking about the "body", perhaps the largest. Impressive to see. The difficulty of the Sphaerula is getting it to the surface, and as an individual you are pretty much powerless at the edge of the ocean while the Sphaerula thrive in the deep. Nowadays, the species is no longer rare: it is either the largest, the most beautiful or the most special specimen and it is no longer a "have or have not" clam if it is in average condition. Beautiful and exceptional specimens still command high prices at auction as the beauty of this species has little competition in the mollusc kingdom. This is definitely a princely shell, possibly the second largest on the planet. The condition is good, very good for the size.
