NoteA SELDOM SEEN ANGARIA: ANGARIA CARMENCITA. In northwestern Australia, there is a small city called Exmouth, sitting nearly at the end of a peninsula projecting northwards in the ocean. In the prolongation of this peninsula are a series of Islands, the two most southern ones called the Murion Islands. These Islands are surrounded by fringing reefs, and when watching in Google Earth one does not need to be an expert to see this is a shelling paradise. It is only the second time we get an Angaria carmencita in our possession: the species is very rare indeed, and the other shell came from Thursday Island, situated between Papua New Guinea and the northern tip of Australia. So, the present piece means a range extension to the west. The A. carmencita has been described by Roland Günther in Club Cochylia Informationen 38(3/4) of November 2007. Australia. Northwest Australia. Exmouth. South Murion Island. On rocks. 5-8 m. #1228624
