Item | # 0003339738 |
Family | Cypraeidae |
Name | Zoila marginata consueta - HUGE DARK AND FLARED , Biraghi, 1993 |
Size | 67.26 mm |
Locality | Garden Island, Fremantle, WA |
Note | On offer here is a really BEAUTIFUL DARK example of marginata consueta. A great dark red/brown dorsum is surrounded by a soft BLUE HALO, which is quite rare in marginata. Its best feature is by far the size and WIDE FLARING that this shell possess. Anything over 65mm i would consider a big shell and this specimen is WAY OVER that size at 67mm+ and combined with its evenly spread flared margins around the entire shell, it makes for super attractive piece. F+++ grade with some light blistering on the dorsum and a small chip on underside of the margin near the anterior canal but presents extremely well. Taken by diver on a medium sized, orange Geodia sp. b sponge from the back of a small limestone cave at 16m. West of Garden Island, W.A. April 2024 *White marks are from camera reflection.
