| Note | SANDSTRÖM'S DREAM. It cannot be overemphasized what a fantastic effect George and Marita Sandström's drawings in Abbott's powerful little book “Shells” from Golden Press, New York, have on the minds of thousands. On page 149 you can see a series of tellins with the typical radiating lines and the page closes on the base with a figure of “Tellina consanguinea” with an elongated shape from South East Asia. The present shells, which are much rarer than anything shown on this plate, combine the quality of large size with a beautiful ray pattern and an elongated shape. Few Crucigera are illustrated in the literature: only the illustrations in Kay (1979) and Okutani (2000) show true Crucigera, all other tellinas shown as such are other species. Another plus point for these extraordinary shells: they are rare. This is definitely a sensational set, rare in this size and quality, and one of the most attractive of the family.
