Item | # 0003345488 |
Family | Spondylidae |
Name | Spondylus clarksoni - AMAZING SPINES + COLOUR! , Lamprell, 1992 |
Size | 105 mm |
Locality | Dampier Archipelago |
Note | Here we have a simply INCREDIBLE example of this rare spondylus. A beautiful evenly spread top valve is covered with ELEGANT large spatula shaped fronds. Apart from the amazing shape of the spines, this is one of the very rare specimens that has colour with soft yellow and pink on the tips of most of the fronds! Great overall condition of the shell with a small growth anomaly on the side of the top valve and just the very light damage to some of the spines that this species always has. Images do not do this shell justice and you wont be disappointed! Found by diver covered in encrusting sponge on low profile sponge garden reef at 16m. Western Side of Dampier Archipelago, October 2023 *White marks are from camera reflection. Please ask about additional images* |
