Hinnites corallinus - UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY , G.B. Sowerby I, 1827
Size
90.8 mm
Locality
Angola
Note
A VERY DESIRABLE SHELL FROM WEST AFRICA. I am delighted to present this 90 mm+ specimen of Hinnites corallinus in dark wine red from Angola. It is an amazing scallop, the likes of which are not often found in life. What we have here is a super nice piece, very dark, the white speckles you see can be further removed. Small defect on the top flap on the top right, but that doesn't detract from the beauty. Shells of this type have always been extremely rare due to the difficult geopolitical situation. Angola has never been a safe area for collecting. Only a few pieces in collections worldwide.
Angola. South Namibe. Dived. 7-12 m. Attached on rocks.
