Chama brassica brassica - SPECIAL COLOR , Reeve, 1847
Size
85.9 mm
Locality
Philippines
Note
FANTASTIC AND REFRESHING COLORS - A RARE DEEP WATER FLOWER. Chama brassica occurs in two forms: the simple pale brown or purplish brown shallow water form and the strongly colored deep water specimens. This is a beautiful specimen of a magnificently fringed and colored deep-water brassica, a great rarity on the market today. In the past, especially up to ten years ago, such specimens were occasionally available from entangling nets in Balicasag. A few specimens were also found in the dredgers in Surigao. But since these two sources have dried up, colored brassica is practically no longer seen. An outstanding specimen of great beauty. Only offered from old collections and extremely rare. The opportunity from my personal collection.
Philippines. Surigao. Basul Island. Trawled. 80-100 m. 2013.
