Item | # 0003365310 | Family | Buccinidae | Name | Busycoarctum coarctatum - LIVE COLLECTED , (G. B. Sowerby I, 1825) |
Size | 95.21 mm, w/o |
Locality | Celestún, Yucatan, Mexico |
Note | This beautiful specimen is part of a batch of 2 shells that were brought to us alive by a local fisherman last month, these two shells are the first live-collected specimens we have ever had of this species.
This is the shallow water form of the species, a form that’s not offered as often as the ones from deep water, much less live-collected, so this is a very good opportunity to get a Yucatan-endemic shell that’s not too often seen.
This one has a stunning bright white background color with beautiful dark brown bands, a real stunner of a shell. Condition is F++, it has some small chips on the lip, thought this shell is so beautiful that this barely takes anything away from it.
Full data will be provided in a data tag with the shell. |
