Size | 36.5 mm |
Locality | France, off Corse, Cap Corse |
Note | Acesta excavata (J. C. Fabricius, 1779) France, off Corse, Cap Corse, trawled at 150 m. X.1975. ex coll Hemmen, Wiesbaden. 36.5 mm
Extremely rare species. In the Atlantic Ocean it is uncommon, but when we talk about Mediterranean Sea, this species becomes one of the holy grails of Mediterranean Malacology. It is not a big specimen, it is rather small, but the other two specimens found in the past from closer locations (Pianosa and Gorgona Islands) are both small (51 and 46 mm), so the species probably doesn't grow in size as in Atlantic Ocean. Don't miss this rare opportunity to get this species! |
