Note | Larger super-inflated, wide and intensely pigmented large peach/camel brown giant Umbilia trawled from the southern Australian GAB. The specimen shows distinctive dark tinted extremities and a large golden camel/brown dorsal blotch. Ultra-maxi-globular shell with deep nacre gloss, profound/intense color and fantastic form, underscored by exceptional width. Trawled in the Great Australian Bight off South Australia on muddy/sandy substrate at 140-150 meters in 12/2003. The specimen features a perfect base and extremities, The shell presents with a noticeable glazed-over anatomical anomaly (aberrant tuberosity) on the mid-dorsum, columellar side as seen in the images (arrow) and a growth fold on the anterior ramp. Grade: F++. |
