Name | Mauritia histrio f. westralis - ATTRACTIVE , Iredale 1935 |

Note | Exceptionally attractive and engaging specimen from Broome, an uncommon find on the Australian west coast. Brilliant color and strong reticulated pattern with large light brown/gray pop-out lacunae. The specimen is rather depressed and exhibits rounded calloused margins with profound large densely distributed eye-popping spots extending over the lateral walls and margins while streaming over to the peripheral columellar base. An exceptional specimen with moderate rostration. The shell shows black pigmenting of the extremity tips, flawless siphons and dorsum. The cream colored base is thick and shows brilliant porcelain-like attributes. Collected in a low tide reef pool, near Broome, West Australia in 2012. The shell exhibits a negligible wobble on the posterior ramp and small self-healed mini-nacre chips on the anterior extremity. Grade: F+++. |
