Note | Visually and esthetically pleasing palmarosae with intact apex, knobby erect foliaceous structures, spire and siphonal canal. Wonderful tones of light brown and sienna complemented by intricate pin-stripping on the body whorls. The desirable characteristics of this refined specimen include elaborate striking spines branching into exceptional curlycue fronds fringed in subtle subdued shades of violet and white. Siphonal canal intact, with perfect aperture lip and pink apex. Collected off Trincomalee, Sri Lanka on sand and grass bottom by net at 20-25 meters in 10/83. Moderately heavy shell. The specimen may have some attrition of the foliaceous processes on the columellar side facing the aperture depending on the criteria format. Perfect apex, spire, aperture and siphonal canal. Grade: GEM minus. |
