Note | HYBRID ULTRA RARE!!!!! Searching for specimens with scientist Robert Iwamasa and some local divers in different localities in Jalisco, we find 2 species of Murichantus. (M. radix and M. ambiguus). They live together in many of the cases when the habitats are combined. Muricanthus radix is found in rocky beach areas where oysters develop with mouth of rivers, and Muricanthus ambiguus in rocky areas with mud and even close to where the corals end. Sometimes the habitats are combined and probably hybrids emerge when they meet. Here is perhaps a single example of the combination. Between Robust body, 8 rows of spines, very broad, wide and extra long spines between row . In the case of M. ambiguus is more noticeable a long siphon on the ventral side, the oposite for M. radix, the distance between one row and the other is to short, less robust and less heavy, combined with spines on the apex-spire and in most cases with longer spines. I learn a lot with Robert but still confuse this species and variations. For advancer collectors. This is one of the most complete branched spines ever found. Intact and perfect from siphon to last spine before the apex!!!The flowered spines going all around in all directions , complete spines even to the spire side. Apex, lip and siphons complete intact, in my own opinion this is a Gem Museum conditions, but there are always micro detail. GEM!! Without a doubt this masterpiece is a treasure for anyone who wins it. It is much more impressive in your hands because of the details that you can't see in the photos. A very rare specimen of this species with these unique and perfect conditions. SPECIAL BLACK COLOR and BRANCHED SPINES with some Brownish background color between spine rows!! WHITE band around the body. Elegant spire with exceptional spines with a hurricane effect, long siphon with perfect conditions, the lip is simply impressive and simple the best of the best for the species. This species is so difficult to find in so good conditions. For any MURICIDAE lovers!!! For advancer collectors. Found attached between muddy stones with oysters about 5-8m deep.
