Item | # 0003405011 |
Family | Cypraeidae |
Name | Cypraea pantherina f. syringa , Sulliotti G.R. 1924 |
Size | 97.1 mm |
Locality | Sagafa, Egypt |
Note | Wonderfully patterned specimen displaying various rich primary hues and a rich brown lateral line. Larger size, thick nacre lustre, perfect extremities and inflated shape highlights the desirable attributes of this superb specimen. The pattern and glossy nacre complement a strong weight/size ratio. The lateral walls display an amazing array of coral pink spotting that is nothing short of spectacular. The pantherina was lifted from a rocky/coral reef crevice in 10/2020 off Sagafa, Egypt by a Scuba diver on night dive at 30-35 meters. The specimen does have a light palpable wobble on the posterior ramp and a small cluster of nacre delaminations on the labral lateral wall. Grade: F+++/GEM minus. |
