| Note | Outstanding subspecies specimen from the west coast of Australia featuring a desirable and dark dorsal botch, shimmering deep nacre gloss and a beautiful blue halo. The shell shows a moderate weight/size ratio, dark hued sharp contoured extremities, modestly tuberculated extremity margins and strong spotting of the columellar lateral wall. The specimen also displays a gleaming pitch-black base with well-developed aperture teeth. The praeclara was nabbed from a barrel sponge planted on a sand/rubble substrate by a expertly operated ROV at 85-90 meters, south of the Zuytdorp Cliffs, Western Australia in 2/2020. The specimen displays mid-dorsal wobble, a repaired mini-nick on the posterior columellar siphon channel and subnacre (glazed-over) blemish on the columellar lateral wall. Grade: F+++. |
