Note | Beautiful representative of this Sea of Cortez fusiform species. The shell displays lovely winged varices and light brown banding of the uniform pale yellow-buff body whorl. The shell displays a perfect protochonch, intact spire and a china-white aperture lip. Collected by shrimp trawler as bycatch in 3/2018 in the Sea of Cortez within the Wagner Basin. The shell was trapped at 40 meters off Puerto Peñasco, Sonora, Mexico. The specimen shows three chipped spines, minor chipping on the anterior siphon and presents with half of the operculum. Grade: F+/F++. |
