Note | Outstanding specimen with amazing pronounced and strongly patterned spiral axial ribs. The ribs display remarkable knobby projections (tubercules) and patterned anatomy directly connecting dorsally to the array of spines. Visually great appearing pattern and color throughout with the "hallmark" violet hued aperture inlet. The specimen shows a flawless spire and body whorl. Note: Ex John Jackson collection. Live collected by Scuba diver at 10-12 meters at base of large coral reef in 4/2009 off St. Brandon (Cargados Carajos Shoals), Mauritius, The area is now a restricted Marine conservation area under the direction of the Saint Brandon Conservation Trust. The shell shows some attrition of the posterior spine tips and small chip of the anterior siphon. Grade: F+++. |
