| Note | This species lives in the coastal zone where they are exposed to direct sunlight, giant waves and predators from air, land and sea. Fortunately it has as a defense a type of dye that the animal produces to repel predators having a very intense chemical smell that is white when expelled, after a few seconds it changes to phosphorescent green and finally when in direct contact with the sun, it produces a chemical reaction that makes it purple. This exemplar is coming with extra longer and higher spines as usual , normally they are most flat and undulated at this size. Beautiful gray colors, really beautiful compare the average. Great orange colors in the ventral side and thick lip for the species, for serious collectors. Some light erosion as usual but much nicer than average and very selected in situ. Found attached to the lava rocks at extremely low tide between cliffs and caves. La Calechosa, Bahia de Cuastecomates, Jalisco, Mexico. January 2024. Value for this beauty spiny: 18-23 euro.
