| Note | An absolute monster of a shell, very rare in this size. I have only ever had 4 pieces over 320mm, and this is one of them.
The shell has a stunning fresh orange color in the parietal shield and lip, and a very clean and beautiful dorsum. The edge of the parietal shield and lip is quite nice for the most part, it is only a little chipped in some areas of the lip, but it retains an aesthetically pleasing ventrum. The siphonal canal has some beautiful dark inner colors and the lower edge of it is in great condition, the upper area of the canal however is chipped, but this barely takes away from the natural beauty of this giant.
The specimen displays amazingly, it would make for a true centerpiece in any display of big shells.
For a specimen this big, condition is quite nice, as very big specimens of this species are almost always badly broken and have faded colors, this one has really beautiful colors and only minor defects. A rare opportunity to acquire a special shell.
This specimen was collected alive via scuba diving at over 20m deep, many miles offshore. It comes with its original operculum. |
