One of the rarest Conus in the world. Described in 2001, this species is known from only a few dead specimens. This is the only caught alive specimen. It was caught by an Egyptian shrimp boat in the southern Red Sea in the "South Gate" area. The current political and military situation in the area will not allow for new specimens of this species in the near future. It could have been called GEM if not for a few chips on the lip. Super rare and a real treasure for any Conidae collection!
