Item | # 0003429120 | Family | Cancellariidae | Name | Trigonostoma tuberculosum - Rare, Interesting , (G.B. Sowerby I, 1832) |
Size | 30.6 mm |
Locality | Caldera, northern Chile |
Note | One very nice specimen of the rare cancellariid Trigonostoma tuberculosum. This specimen was recently collected washed ashore, fresh dead, at a rocky beach in northern Chile. The specimen was very freshly dead, and it is in excellent condition for the species, with a nice spire and first whorls and a nice sculpture and a shiny aperture, however it has some old growth scars and some tiny chips in the lip, as can be seen in the photos. This is a very rare species, seldom collected alive (or fresh dead), as they are naturally rare and they live in specific sandy spots among the rocky coast in northern Chile. This is your opportunity to obtain a rare species from the southeastern Pacific for a low price. |
