A nice and large specimen of the common little mytilid Perumytilus purpuratus. This specimen was collected from under a large sea star (sunstar) in a tidal pool at northern Chile. The specimen has a nice shiny purple interior of the shell, and the exterior of the shell is in the regular condition of this species, eroded in some parts but showing the nice sculpture of the valves and the chocolate periostracum. A low price for an interesting shallow water mytilid.
