NoteAs I understand the situation Raybaudi described smaller shells with strong mantle lines and fine tan speckled pattern the westralis form. These shells are generally darker and were thought to come from the western portion of the Great Australian Bight. This is subject to conjuncture due the lack of accurate collecting location with the trawlers ranging widely in the Great Australian Bight. This specimen was taken by a flathead fishing trawler operating in 130 metres in the Great Australian Bight. It has a strong mantle line bordered by fine dark tan spots. Heavy mature shell. GEM !!!
