Note | One very nice specimen of the very rare deep water volutid Miomelon alarconi, a species endemic to a small distribution in deep waters off central Chile. This specimen was live-collected in shrimp trawls at 400-450 m depth off Quintero, central Chile. This particular specimen has some erosion over the shell as usual, although it has a nice sculpture and good lip, with few shallow chips and an old scar (as can be seen in the images). This species is very rare and very hard to obtain, even in the area, as most of these bycatch specimens are never landed nor reported. This is your opportunity to obtain a hard-to-obtain and very rare Volutidae species for a very low price. |
