Collected by ROV from 170
metres of water at Bernier Island in August 2024. A rare sighting in this area so
the barnacle has obviously
fallen off a humpback whale
on it travels from Antarctica.
I suspect that the antarctic
barnacle could not tolerate
the higher water
temperatures, died and fell
off for us to find. A true rarity.
