| Note | Live-taken rare conch from tropical deep water. The specimen shows a moderate weight/size ratio, high nacre gloss, thick natural lip with perfect spire and protococh. The shell shows four distinct tapering brown stripes dorsally and a dark pigmented aperture, characteristic of the species. The shell was dredged at 40-45 meters on sand/rubble substrate proximal to reef edge off Rabaul, New Britain Island, Papua New Guinea in 1979. The specimen has a mini-nick on the siphonal notch. Grade:GEM minus. |
