If you go to the market in the coastal villages and towns of Peru or Chile, you are sure to see plenty of Argopecten purpuratus, THE local scallop. Most scallops are purple with some black and white spots. What we have here is a very rare orange purpuratus. Very fine, beautiful, ears a little touched, but not harmful, and very typical. Looks noble.
