Note | Remarkably intact specimen that typically presents with war-torn defects on the body whorl and spire. The heavy, solid shell shows moderate gloss and five axial rows of intense copper and camel brown spiral bands, distinctive for the species. The shell displays a thick flawless natural lip, impressive symmetry and a high weight/size ratio. Collected in sand under rock at 15 -16 meters Cerralvo Island, La Paz, Baja California Sur, Mexico in 5/1986 by the late/great Scuba diver Paul Kanner. Original data slip included. The shell has minor growth folds, typical for the species, and a worn protoconch. Grade: F+++. |
