| Note | Lovely, heavy and a graceful visual beauty. This terrific larger sized specimen exhibits exceptional expanded wings with notable flowing flutes and varix channels. The light brown varices complement the mellow coffee brown/light chestnut brown transforming to black /white body whorl intersections. This beautiful shell shows superb form and is a highly collectable trophy, considering its size, coloration and weight. Captured at the base/periphery of a kelp forest by the late, great Scuba diver Paul Kanner at 18-20 meters off the west end of San Nicolas Island, California in the late 90's. The aperture lip, protoconch, spire and body whorl are intact. Grade: GEM. |
