| Note | Spectacular and petite example of a Pacific Ocean beauty. The shell proudly shows nine rows of pitch black spinose varices. The contrast color of the black erect foliaceous projections which are recurved against the china white body whorl is nothing short of dramatic. The shell has a heavy size/weight ratio like a anchor, excellent spire, body whorl and aperture. Collected by locals at 1-2 meters on sand off Playa Miramar, Sonora, Mexico in the mid 80s. The specimen shows a shallow chip on the siphonal canal. Grade: F+++/GEM minus. |
