| Note | Albinistic specimen with broad expanded foliaceous wings, moderate weight and exceptional appearance. Amazing condition for a murex shell from the turbulent surf zone on the central California coast. The shell has an intact spire, perfect anterior siphonal canal and aperture lip. The specimen does exhibit a subtle worn protoconch and some wear and minor abrasion on the trailing varix. Collected by Scuba diver at 7-10 meters on reef rocks and sandy/rubble substrate between kelp forests off Monterey, central California in 2010. Grade: F+++/GEM. |
