Note | Rare and unique specimen that lives sympatrically with Distorsio anus in shallow to 35 meters of ocean depth. An Hawaiian endemic shell with an excellent spire, naturally reduced apex and flawless siphonal canal. The body whorl is inflated with a dozen tuberculated axial ribs. The shell has a striking latticed parietal shield that is criss-crossed with spiral and axial copper brown ribs that accentuate the sparkling pop-out porcelain squares. The impact visually is nothing short of amazing. The shell was Scuba diver collected off Kepuhi Point, Kauai, Hawaii in 8/1988 at 20-22 meters. The specimen comes with an operculum not included in the images. The shell exhibits areas of chipping to the posterior edge of the parietal shield and erosion of the protoconch as seen in imaging.
