| Note | Large, heavy and super-glazed nacre with an astounding "one in a million" marginal ring (humpy halo) comprised of bold/assorted china white maculae framing the specimen. Amazing shell, heavier than a rock, triple thick margins and an unreal color collage dorsally. The pigmentation and mottled pattern are one of a kind, with perfect extremities when viewed dorsally. The pattern is as unique as they come, pure heaven for a "humpy" collector. A phenomenal shell, best appreciated in person when held by hand. Nabbed at night by Scuba diver Marty Beals at 1-2 meters under boulders in the crash zone off the Mauna Kea Beach Hotel, Kona, Hawaii in 11/2004. The humpy exhibits a few subnacre blemishes on the base and a glossed over, anterior labral extremity, self-repair ventrally. Grade: F++/F+++. |
