| Note | Heavy, impressive and beautifully proportioned specimen. The shell presents with a beautifully sculptured spire, wide varices, porcelain-like aperture, excellent siphonal canal and yes, it actually has a heart-shaped operculum. The body whorl is impressive, adorned with sandstone and marigold orange tones, complementing the sweeping axial ribs. Collected by Don Bosch on the southwest corner of Al Masirah Island, Oman, Arabian Sea near a rocky reef in the strong surf zone attached to a rock during a low tide in 2/1983. The shell has excellent form and does show apex erosion and minor palpable roughness of the siphonal terminus. Grade: F+++. |
