Note | Exceptionally heavy and large specimen with prominent ocellating spots on the columellar wall and dorsum. The elongate specimen demonstrates notable inflation, excellent nacre gloss and displays a dominant lateral line. The shell shows excellent form with balanced symmetry with prefect extremities. Most importantly, the shell has a high weight/size ratio for the species, a very collectable feature for this species. A champion spotted specimen. The shell was lifted off the sand at the base of a large reef by Scuba diver off Campeche, Yucatan, Mexico at 8 meters in 3/2014 on a day dive. There is present a few glazed-over hard to see micro-pits on the base and equally hidden mini-tight collectiion of pits on the mid-collumellar lateral wall/dorsum transition area, not visible in images.. Grade: F+++/GEM. |
