| Note | Large and heavy intense colored specimen with functioning hinge ligament and large spathate spines. Nice pink rose color integration throughout both valves and excellent margins with complete heavy red marginal pigmentation. The shell was plucked by Scuba diver Paul Kanner scuba at 10-30 meters either attached to rock/rubble or dead shell substrate off Isla Carmen, Loreto, Baja California Sur, Mexico in 1992. The shell shows minor spathate spine tip separations, a few drill holes, and both valves are in remarkable good condition for a spiny oyster of this size, as seen in the images.
