Note | One interesting specimen of the very rare deep water volutid Miomelon alarconi, a species endemic to a small distribution in deep waters off central Chile. This specimen was live-collected in shrimp trawls at 400-450 m depth off Quintero, central Chile. This particular specimen has a lot of erosion over the shell as usual, although it was collected alive. This species is very rare and very hard to obtain, even in the area, as most of these bycatch specimens are never landed nor reported. This is your opportunity to obtain a very rare Volutidae species for a very low price. |
