| Note | A freshwater snail endemic to China, is one of the most scientifically valuable freshwater snails. It is the only known species in the Squamapex family, which is also the only endemic mollusc family in China. Currently, Squamapex has only been found in Fuxian Lake. The genus Squamapex existed as far back as the Tethys Sea, long before the Yunnan landmass emerged. The Squamapex family diverged from its closest relatives approximately 89 million years ago, with only a slight resemblance to the Stenothyridae family. Currently, the squamapex taiji is the only known species in this family |
