Item | # 0003511064 |
Family | Buccinidae |
Name | Aeneator loisae - Very Nice, Large! , Rehder, 1971 |
Size | 83 mm |
Locality | Off Valparaiso, central Chile |
Note | One very nice large, and selectedspecimen of the Tudiclidae deep water species Aeneator loisae Rehder, 1971. A endemic species of Chile, it is only encountered as bycatch in the shrimp and prawn industry. This specimen was collected alive and it conserves its original operculum. The little upturned and flared lip is characteristic of very adult specimens and although it has some erosion to the teleoconch and the apex eroded (as is usual for this deep water species), it is a very nice specimen for the species. A low initial price for an interesting endemic deep water species endemic from Chile. |
