Collected at night in 2m undercut in sea cliff, Flying Fish Cove, Christmas Island, Indian Ocean. Heavy as a brick and strikingly rust-stained from iron wreckage in the area which is subject to large swells and cowries from this area are generally heavy and calloused. This beautiful shell has minor nacre faults on the dorsum and a minor glazed chip near the anterior canal. |
