| Note | G_NRIT_2754 (A3) - Pair of "Saulcyi" variant with a kind of "transversalis" appearance, from the upper Megalopotamos, collected in the pond at the emergence, on top of the waterfall near the chapel of Agios Nikoláos, Kourtialotiko gorge, south of Réthymno. This population of circa 1,5K individuals is isolated in its pond of about 30 sqm, separated from downstream groups by the waterfall, and from upstream groups by a long underground section (temporary underflow and karstic aquifer). It develops a peculiar pattern and colour, while snails from upper parts of the drainage basin are almost jet black. |
