| Note | GEM. FROM THE “DE ROY” FAMILY AND THE GALAPAGOS. Shells from the Galapagos Islands are fascinating as they are now fast disappearing from the markets. The present albuginosa is one of the Galapagos shells from the De Roy times, most likely collected by them as this is from a vintage Belgian collection. The albuginosa is a common species, but difficult to collect. Therefore, we see only 25 figures in the diverse books we consulted, and among these, there are only 6 albuginosa figured from the Galapagos. This is a quite priceless item in the current market situation where supply has dried up. For experts in cowries: a must have jewel, even if you have already several.
